Davenham CE Primary is a very popular, high achieving, family-oriented village school, with a long tradition of providing primary education for the community. After 140 years in the original Victorian building the school moved into new purpose-built accommodation with attached sports field in 1995. To cope with increased demand for places, a further two-class extension was added in Spring 2001 and a new computer suite two years later.

The school has a very strong and clear school ethos to provide a quality environment underpinned by Christian faith and principles. This promotes positive relationships, mutual respect and tolerance for others and encourages the full potential of everyone. We are committed to nurturing a love of learning and to developing independent learners.

Davenham CE Primary was judged to be outstanding in all areas by OFSTED on its last inspection and has been commended twice in the annual Chief Inspector's reports which celebrate excellent schools.

As well as offering a broad and balanced curriculum the school provides an extensive range of extra curricular activities to broaden the children’s learning experiences including keyboard, guitar, flute, ukulele, choir, recorders and brass band. Sporting clubs include soccer, netball, gymnastics, cricket, athletics and kick boxing and street dancing. Other clubs include computers, craft and card making, board games, French and art. The school has received many awards in all areas of school life.

The parent-teacher association, known as Friends of Davenham School (FODS), is extremely active and forms an integral part of school life, running numerous social and fundraising events.
